The Story of Niachilie GBV Consciousness Raising Art

Combating Gender Based Violence Through Art by Nthambi Mutua

It is unfortunately common to suffer in silence because we lack the courage to face our abusers. There are many reasons why we may choose to remain quiet, such as threats or being used to the abuse. In some cases, we feel hopeless and believe we have nowhere else to go. This is further complicated by Stockholm syndrome, where we may feel attachment or loyalty to our abuser.

One powerful example of this is depicted in "Niachilie", a story of a woman trapped in an abusive situation. She is fed up with the abuse but is too scared to speak up, as she doesn't know what will happen next. She suffers in silence because she doesn't want to tarnish her abuser's reputation and deep down, she knows that no one will believe her.

This story is one of pain, tears, and sorrow, but also of strength. It sheds light on the many reasons why victims of abuse may not be able to speak up and the complex emotions and beliefs that can keep us trapped in such situations. It is important to provide support and resources to those who are suffering, so they can find the courage and strength to break free from their abusers.
